good afternoon, sara bloomquist is off today, new details about the incident caught on camera in south carolina. and more on investigation into an accident a man is electrocuted on a job in delaware county. but the big story is a traumatizing accident in the port richmond section of the city. one minute a woman was filling up her car and the next she was on fire. katherine scott explains what happened. >> the victim has second degree being third degree burns on her body, she is in intensive care but is expected to survive. >> she was turning the cab and the car came and immediately hit her.
relatives rushed to philadelphia, after learning 21-year-old jacqueline lopez was on fire at a gas station, she was at this pump, when another car came smashing into it and the pump then ignited. >> i heard the pump hit the ground hard. >> lopez's 3-year-old daughter was in the backseat, a passenger from the striking vehicle kicked through the window and pulled her to safety. >> she is with her father, very traumatized and saddened that she had to see her mother go through this. >> lopez say student and works in customer service. she had just left her job to go to school. awi witness told police.
>> i am upset she is hurt but revealed she is alive. one man was dead after he was electrocuted on a job in del care county, the accident happened in havertown and according to police a crew is working in the neighborhood on the 2100 block of winton avenue, when a man dropped a block on a wire. one man was shocked and has burns on his hands and feet. the incident remains under investigation, we are learning more about the victims. >> developing now, police are searching for an abandoned hotel in the poconos for suspected cop killer, eric frein, he was known to visit the buck hill in when opened and it was closed since 1991, they are checking the building to make sure frein is not holed up inside. it's been three weeks since he
is suspected of opening fire on two state troopers killing one of them. we have more on 6abc.com. police in montgomery county is investigating a deadly accident that shut down part of the blue route sunday night. can you see from the traffic cameras, the debris strewn on the highways in plymouth township. a box truck collided with a sedan in the northbound lanes, it happened before 2:00 a.m. approaching the ridge pike exit. the road reopened just before 5:30. prosecutors continue to present their case in the trial of a man accused of killing an infant and their grandmother, he is accused of killing saanvi and her grandmother during a kidnap for ransom attempt in king of prussia. he says he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and is
acting as his own attorney. more than 3,000 flights are canceled at chicago's pair port because of a fire at an air traffic facility there. police say that an faa contractor intensely started the fire this morning. emergency responders discovered the employee inside with a self-inflicted wound. the fbi is now handling the case, the blaze prompted a ground stoppage at o'hare and midway international airports. and several flights in chicago are delayed or canceled. it caused delays around the country as well. u.s. fighter jets continued to bomb targets in syria and iraq today. denmark also joined the coalition and british leaders are debating whether to commit their own war planes to the battle. here is karen travers with the

two of them. from our delaware newsroom, a dover woman is accused of robbing and assaulting a 76-year-old man that was hired to clean his house. he worked for the man and went back to his house on van avenue, and the man refused to allow her inside according to police, he grabbed her and threw her to the ground and took his wallet. he turned himself into police late last night to face robbery, home invasion and assault. new information this noon about the suspected drunk drive that smashed his van into a house and jason drone was in the vehicle that struck a fence and went airborne before going into the house on drary road. rowen cited for being under the influence and leaving the scene of a crash. the cost guard responded to

one person is dead following a bridge collapse in michigan. a truck hit the bridge this morning killing the driver and the impact caused the bridge to collapse to the freeway below and fortunately no one was walking on the bridge at the time and police are still investigating why that truck driver lost control. a south carolina police trooper is facing up to 25 years in
prison for shooting an unarmed driver during a traffic stop. shawn groover is -- the trooper made him get out of car and ask for his drivers license and when the driver reached for his license the police officer opened fire. the driver is recovering from his wounds. there is new video of the suspect that mowed people down outside a hotel in miami. the man jumped into the lexus after leaving the valet station, he continued to reverse and throttle forward and pinning several people before he sped away. four vick testimony tems we are learning about a near disaster in the skies over north carolina early yesterday. two planes forced to turn around
because the runway lights were unexpectedly turned off. it happened at wilmington international airport. the pilots came in and noticed the navigation lights were suddenly dark. there was no way to land safely and both pilots were forced to turn around and land at the cities they took off from. the faa is now investigating. jessie matthew, the man arrested in connection with the disappearance of a university of virginia student. he is headed back to virginia today, and authorities are releasing details of what led up to matthew's arrest on a galveston breach. the woman was at the beach to relax and came face-to-face with matthew. >> and he looked and did a double take and slammed on his brakes into the sand, he was

we are following a developing story out of delaware county where a man was electrocuted a short time ago. we are live with the latest and a driver suspected of being under the influence, the reaction from the shocked homeowner coming up and the suspect in the disappearance of a college student is coming up and the student is still missing. we begin developing story from havertown, a man in his 50s was electrocuted and another man was shocked. vernon odom is live on the scene of the 2100 block of winton avenue where the two men were working at the time. what can you tell us? >> reporter: hello rick, the scene is on winton avenue. we don't know the condition of the victims. they were working on a roof here in havertown this morning, they
had an aluminum ladder that got too close to an electrical line and one was electrocuted and north one shocked. here is the neighbor. >> he shocked himself and the other guy with him got sent to the hospital and this guy passed away, god rest his soul. they were doing the roof and the ladder fell back and hit the power cord and the guy was still on it and fell to the ground. >> no power. >> no word on either workman of the names of the victims. the power in this neighborhood is still off at this hour, a peco truck just arrived a few moments ago and they expect to set it up again and have the power up again soon, right now power off and one dead and one
hospitalized. vernon odom, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. a woman was badly burned and her child pulled to safety after a freak accident in port richmond, it happened at 11:30 at sunoco station at aramingo avenue. jacqueline lopez was pumping gas when a vehicle hit the pump and it caused it to burst into flames. lopez is in the hospital with serious flames, the daughter of the striking vehicle said she accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of brake smashing into the pump. the driver of a minivan was under the influence when he crashed into a home in claremont, delaware, the home is deemed uninhabitable. eva pilgram is live on the scene. >> reporter: yes we talked to the homeowners this morning. i want to show you the house, see the beams? they are holding the house up, the entire side of the house
there is gone and you can see straight into the house after a minivan came crashing through it at night. the driver, 30-year-old jason rain was under the influence when he lost control of the 2006 kia, minivan and crashed at darby road at 12:00 p.m. he was arrested a short time after, now this was the reaction of the home's owner, here rashi rashida mcintosh, the minivan crashed right into her children's room. mcintosh is a middle school teacher and she and her kids would normally have been home but they weren't because she had training at school. >> this is a wake-up call for him to get healing or something within his life so something
like this doesn't happen begun, he could have taken out lives, his children and my children. it could have been way more devastating than this. >> back out here live, you can see the workers now trying to make it at least safe so the house won't continue to crash down, it has been deemed unsafe for living and mcintosh and her kids can't live here now, and most of this house will have to be torn down, and the family is staying with friends, they don't have clothes and they have to buy the clothe they are wearing today, and everything they own is trapped in the house and they cannot get to t but they are just thankful that no one was seriously hurt. we are live in claymont, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. an elderly woman was killed in a house fire in chester overnight. it started on the 2800 block of
west 10th street. when firefighters arrived they were told that a woman and her child were trapped inside. the woman died and now the red cross is helping him with shelter. the woman's name has not yet been released . today marks two weeks since the ambush shootings of two state troopers at their barracks in the poconos mountains and the search for the suspect continues. they believe that self trained survivalist remains on the run in the poconos mountains. the team was sent to search an abandoned hotel in the mountain, frein was none to visit the bucks inn when it was open. the south carolina patrol officer that opened fire on a man during a routine traffic stop faces felony charges, the unarmed driver reached into his car to get his drivers license.
abc news reporter, carolyn costello is live with more on the case. >> reporter: well, rick such decisive action may not have been taken against this trooper if it weren't video taken from his dash-cam. crucial evidence. >> watch lamar jones standing outside of his car seconds after being pulled over for a seatbelt violation. >> get out of car! get out of the car! >> the trooper shawn grubers asked jones for his license but when he reaches into his vehicle, he fires four shots hitting jones in the hip. >> i'm getting my license. >> you dove head first back into your car. >> why did you shoot me?
jones had no gun in his car. the trooper fired from the south carolina highway patrol is charged with assault and battery. >> video is critical in this case, as far as being able to make a decisive decision that the officer was in the wrong. back in 2012, gruber was involved in other shooting where the suspect fired first. >> any officer that is involved in the shooting is acutely aware that it can happen again and it may not turn out as well the second time. keeping that in mind the focus still has to be in mind is it reasonable to use deadly force and in this case it wasn't. >> the trooper has pleaded not guilty to the charges, his lawyer saying that jones aggressively reached for his drivers license, jones is recovering and he hopes that his

a deadly crash in long island is impactle traffic. this is the scene near the george washington bridge, this tractor trailer overturned and an suv collided. one driver died at the scene the the other was taken to the hospital with injuries. it caused massive backup as long the turnpike and i-95. the man accused of abducting a virginia university student is being taken back to virginia. and how he was captured by a woman in the right place at the right time. alicia vitarelli is here with more on that. >> this is the first time that jessie matthew will be questioned about what happened to 18-year-old hannah graham, she remains missing for two
weeks and police are still feverishly searching for her. jessie many yous is accused of abducting hannah graham. he was arrested in texas for abducting the 18-year-old. a woman came face-to-face with the accused kidnapper. he looked and did a double take and slammed on his brakes into the sand. and he was very close and looked at me. and it was very scary. >> karen declined to give her last name says matthew was on the beach and she recognized him from the wanted posters. >> i was sure it was him. >> galveston is on the beach downtown from the mall. where he is seen with graham just moments before she
disappeared on september 13 and. in his first court appearance in texas, matthew in handcuffs refused a court appointed attorney and complained about his hard bed. >> they took all of my clothes and have me sleeping on a hard thing. >> his lawyer is waiting for him back home in virginia. police say they are searching for graham harder than ever. >> we have an obligation to bring him home. >> they are asking people to search their properties and look for wildlife cameras for any sign of graham. >> thank you alicia for that report. in other news there is a new crew at the international space station this noon. three more astronauts arrived
